Foreign Study Scholars
Katie Murray ('08) – Ireland
“Ireland was extraordinary: chilly and wet, but extraordinary. Of all the locations and experiences, Blarney Castle and its grounds were my favorite in Ireland. The castle itself is amazing, and kissing the famous Blarney Stone was undeniably cool. And I saw the greatest trees of my life in Ireland and definitely at Blarney. The surrounding greenery is so lush and vibrant and inviting, I could have walked around that area forever, it seems. This was my first, but certainly not last, trip abroad and it couldn’t have been more marvelous!”
Matthew Creasy ('07) – Prague
“As a political science student concentrating in international relations, foreign travel is a must. A year ago, I still had never been out of this time zone, but thanks to the opportunities through CNU and the President's Leadership Program, I was able to study abroad twice. First I attended the ILA conference in Amsterdam. Then I spent my spring semester studying in Prague, Czech Republic, and traveled throughout Europe. The PLP study-abroad stipend greatly helped ease the financial burden most students bear while studying abroad. Thanks to the Leadership Program and CNU, I have now traveled to Sweden, Denmark, Holland, Belgium, France, Germany, Poland, Czech Republic, Italy and the Vatican! These opportunities are invaluable to students, as you grow not only to love the countries traveled to, but also have a greater appreciation for the United States. I cannot thank the PLP and CNU enough for these amazing opportunities.”
Jessi Hinz ('07) Florence, Italy
"One of the greatest things about studying abroad was being surrounded
by so much history and culture; there was always something to do or
something to see. I also loved being able to hop on a train every
weekend and go anywhere."
