Application process for entrance into the  President's Leadership and / or Honors Programs

  • Submit an application for admission to Christopher Newport University.
  • Submit the application below to be considered for the President's Leadership Program and / or the Honors Program. (Applicants may apply and be selected to one or both of the programs. Only one application is necessary)
  • Students selected for these programs typically come from the top 25% of our applicant pool. While a student's GPA and SAT / ACT scores are considered closely, we also recognize academic traits that aren't as easily quantifiable. A candidate's involvement in and commitment to school or community activities will be considered for the Leadership Program.
  • President's Leadership Program applicants with a GPA of at least 3.75 may be eligible for admission regardless of test scores. All Honors Program applicants must submit SAT / ACT scores for consideration.
  • Submit an essay or personal statement (optional).
  • Admissions will contact qualified President's Leadership Program applicants to schedule a mandatory on campus interview (preferred) or webcam interview. Interviews for Honors Program applicants are optional. Special fall campus visit and interview days for the President's Leadership Program and Honors Program are Friday, October 30 and Saturday, November 14, although interviews can be scheduled on alternate dates.
  • All President's Leadership and Honors Program scholarship recipients must reside on campus at Christopher Newport University.
  • Incoming President's Leadership Program students must participate in one of two Outdoor Adventure programs scheduled in June 2010.
